Course aim
Give every team member a working understanding of a safe decontamination system so patients and staff are protected, and so the practice can show it meets current UK expectations.
What you will be able to do
- 1Explain GDC, CQC and HTM 01-05 expectations for decontamination in primary dental care.
- 2Describe the chain of infection and how standard precautions interrupt it.
- 3Use hand hygiene and PPE correctly for dirty, clean and clinical tasks.
- 4Set out a dirty-to-clean workflow, including cleaning before sterilisation.
- 5Match autoclave type and cycle to the load, and store packs safely.
- 6Describe storage, waterlines, impressions, sharps and the records that show a safe system.
Suitable for: Dentists, Dental Hygienists, Dental Therapists, Dental Nurses, Orthodontic Therapists and practice decontamination leads.
