Year 2 of the five-year IR(ME)R update — when an exposure is justified, how selection criteria work, and why every image must be clinically evaluated.
Course aim
Keep dentists and entitled operators current with IR(ME)R duties so every exposure is justified, optimised and recorded — and so the practice can show a 5-year radiation-protection update.
5 hours over 5 years: this is Year 2 of 5. Each module is 1 hour of verifiable CPD. Completing all five meets the PrismCPD IR(ME)R update of 5 hours for dentists. Complete the modules in numerical order: Year 1, then Year 2, then Year 3, then Year 4, then Year 5.
What you will be able to do
- 1Apply IR(ME)R justification so no exposure proceeds without a net clinical benefit
- 2Use selection criteria for common intra-oral and panoramic examinations
- 3Decide when a repeat exposure is justified — and when it is not
- 4Record clinical evaluation of every radiograph taken
