A 1-hour course on not taking a used needle apart over a full sharps bin, and on what to do in the first hour if a sharps injury still happens.
Course aim
Give the team prevention habits that match UK sharps law, and a calm first-hour sequence: first aid, report, occupational health — without guessing blood results in the staff room.
What you will be able to do
- 1Describe safer-sharps duties in UK healthcare work
- 2Use and dispose of sharps so recapping and overfilled bins are not the culture
- 3Give first aid and report an injury without delay
- 4Explain why occupational health, not informal blood tests, manages BBV exposure
Suitable for: the whole team, including reception and practice managers.
Always follow current HSE sharps guidance, your occupational-health provider, and UKHSA advice on the day. This course is knowledge CPD, not PEP.
