What inspectors expect to see

• A named lead and deputy
• A written procedure that matches what staff actually do
• Local children’s and adult safeguarding contacts (and 999) where people can find them — not only in a drawer at home
• Training records that show Level 1 or Level 2 for each role, with dates

Safer recruitment (awareness)

Managers should know that roles with patient contact need appropriate checks. You do not run DBS from this module; you do raise it if a new starter is left alone with children with no induction.

Supporting a colleague

If someone is distressed after a disclosure, give them a quiet space and tell the lead. Do not debrief the whole waiting room.

Series close

Level 1 modules 1 and 2 are 2 hours. Non-clinical staff stop here. Dentists and DCPs then complete Level 2 (3 hours).
